We welcome Stephen Browning who has brought performance Readers Theater to the Ludlow Village Players offerings. It premiered with a radio version of “Its a Wonderful Life” at our 2024 “Holidays on the Bay” fund raiser, to the delight of all.
For those who haven’t experience a reader theatre performance, here’s a description that provides the best snapshot of how it differs from a fully staged show:
Readers theater is a theatrical style where actors read dramatic scripts without props, scenery, costumes, or special lighting. Actors use their voices and vocal expression to help the audience understand the story.
Our first show this coming season will be on March 7th and 8th, 2025. Ripcord, by David Lindsey-Abaire, premiered in New York in 2015 to rave reviews. Per the New York Magazine:
“It’s a play that flirts with surrealism…but because he writes such good scenes, it’s nevertheless heartbreaking and hopeful, suggesting the possibility that, even in old age, people can make choices that may produce a gentler landing.”
We hope you can join us for this intimate, uncluttered theatrical experience and plan to attend upcoming performances of new shows later in the year. Tickets will be available through Brown Paper Tickets, so check the website for a direct link to online sales.
